| Taxis are white colour. Usually, fares swift from 15 to 20 euros for a trip inside the city. The fare of a trip from the airport to the centre of Rome depends on the traffic, but it is between 20 and 40 euros (tip: 2-3 euros). A faster way to arrive to the centre is the airport express train, which leaves every 30 minutes and arrives to Termini station. There is also a slower train to Trastevere. Both of them offer facilities to find a taxi to the hotel. For further information on the most suitable station, we advise you to contact the hotel where you will stay. The fare of a one-way trip is 4 euros till Trastevere and 8 euros till Termini. Public means in Rome are really cheap, but they are always overcrowded. The underground is fast, cheap and easy to take, but it has only two lines. One-way tickets can be bought in all the stations. Tourists staying longer can buy a several days valid card. The underground runs from 6 a.m. to 23.30 p.m. and it is used by local people mainly from 7.30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Buses run from 6 a.m. to 22 p.m. and cover nearly the whole city area. Round the centre, there are some night lines running every 30 minutes. We advise you to ask for more information at your arrival to Rome. The ticket cannot be bought on the bus (1 euro). The ticket is valid for a single trip by underground and/or for 75 minutes on buses and trams. One of the best ways to wander around the centre is renting a bicycle. There is plenty of places where you can do it. |

| Here is some general information to enjoy Rome. Be careful with your wallet, with your camera and with any jewels. you may have while walking through the city, on the bus and in the underground. A tradition to follow during your holidays in Rome is that of the ice-cream. Walking through the city you'll come across lots of ice-cream shops, where you can try a wide range of ice-cream tastes for 2-3 euros. Mineral water is good and cheap wherever in Italy. A litre costs less than 1 euro if you buy it in a shop, and about 2 euros in a bar. In Italy you'll find also a wide range of wines. Prices usually range from 5 to 20 euros, but you can even pay more than 100 euros for some kinds of aged red wine. It is thus advisable to take a look at the prices before ordering. |
